Frequently Asked Questions
-
Q1:
Can I change the size of the Secured HDD partition?
A1:
Yes. It is recommended that you backup all the data from the
CD & Secured HDD Partitions before changing the partition
size.
Q2:
I do not want to keep entering my password to access the
secure partition. Is there a way this can be automated?
A2:
Yes, If you enabled Trust this computer setting while
creating the partitions, you can avoid typing in the
password on that computer. However you will still be
required to enter the password while connecting to any other
system.
Q3:
What happens if I want to read my Secured HDD on another PC?
A3:
There is no need to install any software on the new PC
unless it is running Windows 98 or Windows 2000.The
software for password authentication is provided built into
the drivers. For Windows 98 and Windows 2000 the driver
software needs to be installed before accessing CD + HDD.
Q4:
Can I use other CD/DVD burning software to modify the
content in the Read Only CD Partition?
A4:
No. Other types of CD/DVD burning software are not
compatible with the CD + HDD. The Contents in the Read Only
CD Partition cannot be modified with other types of
software. The CD + HDD Software is required to modify the
content.
Q5:
Can I configure Read Only CD Partition to 0MB?
A5:
No, during the partition creation the CD + HDD Software
authentication related files will be copied into the CD
partition along with the files selected for copying into CD.
So the partition size must be large enough to accommodate
the selected files.
Q6:
Is there any need to install driver for this CD + HDD?
A6:
Drivers are required in Windows 98 and Windows 2000. If you
are running Windows 98 & Windows 2000, you must download
this from the vendor’s web site.
Q7:
Can I change Read Only CD Partition size during the
partition creation?
A7:
The partition size for CD is automatically adjusted by CD +
HDD Software depending on the size of the “OEITmp” directory
and total file size selected for copying into the CD. This
is to avoid unnecessary free space in CD partition, which is
going to be created as read only.
Q8:
Missed
my password, is there any way I can get back my data in
Secure Partition?
A8:
No, the data in the Secured HDD Partition cannot be
retrieved, if the password is lost. Try to recall the
password using the password hint. If you still can’t recall
the password, take the backup of your CD and once again
create new partitions with a new password. Note that the
data in the Secured HDD partition will be lost if you forget
the password.
